Anoka,
MN—May 19, 2008—
Hoffman announces that it now offers the 60-mm Busbar System by Wöhner.
The 60-mm Busbar System is UL508, CSA and CE recognized and designed
to safely distribute power throughout a panel while conserving valuable
panel space. Wöhner is the market leader in busbar systems, the predominant
power distribution method outside of North America. Recognizing the
increasingly global reach of North American customers and a growing
demand for globally accepted products, Hoffman has formed a strategic
partnership with Wöhner. Hoffman has long been a provider of quality
enclosure solutions, and the addition of the robust, easy-to-use
60-mm Busbar System provides customers with a more complete solution.
A busbar system uses three copper bars, which are attached to end
supports connected to the back panel, to distribute power throughout
the enclosure. Electrical components are mounted onto adapters that
simply snap onto the busbars, establishing an electrical connection
and mechanically fastening in one step while reducing wiring time
by up to 40 percent. This design allows power to be easily distributed
to multiple components and is touch-safe rated to IP20. In addition,
busbar systems utilize pre-wired adapters and sliding DIN rails, enabling
components to be placed closer together while reducing the raceway
and bending radius space required.
Wöhner developed the first busbar system in the 1970s and has continued
to innovate and expand its product offerings, delivering the broadest
product line in the industry. The 60-mm Busbar Systems Hoffman now
offers are rigid and modular, and they can distribute currents of
over 1600 amps at 690V. The busbars can be cut to the desired length
to adapt to most enclosures, and they can be positioned vertically
or horizontally to optimize space. Plus, innovative input and output
terminals accommodate wire sizes to 600MCM and do not require drilling
or tapping.
“The design and layout of 60-mm Busbar Systems expedite installation, and components
can be easily added to the panel, increasing application flexibility,” said Nathan
Espinosa, Hoffman product manager. “Busbar systems combine space savings with
exceptional safety. Their snap-together design accommodates all typical components
installed within a panel, including fuseholders, switches and circuit breakers.
This ease and flexibility greatly simplifies project planning and management.” Espinosa
adds, “These systems also minimize the number of connections, and arc flash danger
is dramatically reduced since all live parts are insulated.”
Applications. 60-mm Busbar Systems provide simple
to modify, direct mounting solutions for a wide range of manufacturers
and industries, including:
- Automotive applications
- Wastewater operations
- Material handling
- Packaging OEMs
- Food and beverage
- Industrial ovens and industrial heating
- Fluid transfer
- Parts assembly
In addition, several features of 60-mm Busbar Systems make them particularly
effective and convenient to use:
- Components cover power distribution and circuit protection
- Meets UL508A, CSA and CE standards
- Busbars are touch-safe rated to IP20
- Simple design eases planning, project design and installation
- Components and both incoming and outgoing connections mount
directly to the busbar system to save space and simplify modifications
- Busbars are cut to specified lengths to adapt to most enclosures
and can be positioned vertically or horizontally
- Minimizes the number of connections, and all live parts are
insulated to reduce arc flash danger
- Distributes high currents of over 1600 amps at 690V
- Establishes an electrical connection and mechanically fastens
in one step for reduced installation time
- Type tested, high-quality components are kept in stock at Hoffman
to ensure system availability
- Custom-bent flexible busbars available, and drilled or tapped
holes can be specified for both rigid and flexible busbars
