Designed and purpose-built for Banner’sSureCross Wireless Network, these Nodes are available in versions to supportthermocouple/thermistorinputs and 2-, 3- and 4-wire RTDs. They facilitate easy, rugged wireless temperaturesensing for high repeatability and fast response time, requiring no calibrationby the user.List price for a Gateway and Instrumentation Node pair is $1438.
The SureCross Thermocouple Node supports up to three thermocouple inputs, one thermistor input and two discrete (sinking) inputs, and has two discrete(NMOSsinking)outputs. Users can choose from 11 configurable thermocouple options, demonstrating an extensive temperature sensing range from -200 to +2,320° C,depending on configuration. The Node defaults to the J-type thermocouple, whichsenses temperatures ranging from -180 to +750° C and offers a plug-and-playsolution ideal for remote or difficult to access locations. In addition, theThermocouple Node uses integrated cold junction compensation to provide reliabletemperature sensing suitable for a wide variety of applications.
The RTD Node supports up to four 3-wire Pt100 (DIN .00385) RTDs and offers atemperature sensing range of -200 to 482° C. Additional temperature sensingtypes are available. This technology demonstrates high-performance temperaturesensing with exceptional accuracy.
Nodes work in conjunction with a Gateway on the SureCross Wireless Network andare housed in a rugged IP67 housing. Both 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz frequency communicationmodels are available, providing advanced wireless temperature sensing capabilitiesfrom practically anywhere. In addition, with Banner’s innovative FlexPowercapability, the Nodes can be powered by 10-30V or energy-saving 3.6-5.5V dc power, solar power, or Banner’s exclusive 3.6V FlexPower battery module. Thisunique battery module can provide power to the Node and temperature sensing deviceforyears of continuous operation.
“The SureCross Wireless Network was designed for industry to provide anintegrated wireless solution with advanced monitoring and actuating capabilities,” saidChris Dales, Senior Application Engineer, Banner Wireless Division. “Withthe new SureCross Thermocouple and RTD Nodes, robust, reliable temperature sensingis made simple. The Nodes are available in several configurations to deliverapplication-specific results without requiring custom calibration, and both modelssupport global communication standards.” Dales adds, “For tank farms, industrial plant operations and many more applications where success is dependentupon accurate temperature monitoring, SureCross Instrumentation Nodes providea rugged, easy-to-apply solution.”
Applications. The SureCross Wireless Network uses a centralizedGateway system controller to monitor and/or control I/O in up to 15 Nodes, delivering superior sensing with high operational reliability and optimum security.Thermocouple and RTD Nodes facilitate quick, accurate temperature sensing fora variety of challenging industrial applications, including the following:- Motor temperature analysis for preventative maintenance operations
