The Scout 1 is a complete, turnkey inspection system consisting of an integrated high-speed processor, 15" SVGA monitor, camera and lighting system, keyboard, trackball, cables and the powerful Vision Program ManagerÔ (VPMÔ) software. Available options include a touch-screen monitor, an industrially sealed flatscreen monitor, and a support package that assists users with camera and lighting setup and VPM programming.
Scout 1 is easy to set up and operate thanks to VPM, the first totally graphical, icon-based machine vision interface. VPM cuts programming time by weeks, replacing complicated menus or complex code with a set of graphical software "tools" that are simply dragged-and-dropped into a flowchart representing the actual inspection process. The underlying algorithms represented by these icons are the same powerful and refined technology used in high-end machine vision systems. With dozens of these tools to work with, a comprehensive inspection program can be set up for any application with the flexibility to easily add additional inspection power as future needs require.
With image capture rates up to 1,800 parts-per-minute (ppm) at 640 x 480 resolution, the Scout 1 system is faster and more accurate than other entry-level systems, and it can be upgraded with a high-speed camera to achieve speeds over 10,000 ppm. In addition, the integrated, networkable PC platform and 15" monitor provide continuous display of inspection images and data for real-time process monitoring and control.
