Innovative features and functions provided by the Package Tool include: simple setup via PPT's Vision Program Manager graphical user interface, Multiple Templates within the same ROI (region of interest), Polygonal ROI's, Run-Time Morphology, Automatic Retraining of templated regions, and an optional hardware accelerator board.
Drag-and-drop programming enables Package Tool users to create new inspection programs or make changes to existing programs quickly and easily. Multiple Template capability allows users to program up to eight independent inspection tasks, performed on every image capture, with a single tool. For example, white text with a red background on a blue container can all be inspected and verified with individual templates at the same time.
Polygonal ROI's allow for precise alignment of the tool so only the desired features of the package are inspected, and also make possible the undistorted inspection of more than one side of a package in a single camera view. Run-Time Morphology increases tool robustness enabling the inspection system to run faster and perform more accurately by allowing users to clean up or enhance an image before comparing it to the template. The Package Tool Retrain function streamlines product changeovers by providing the ability to create new templates automatically using a single button.
An optional hardware accelerator board provides significant increases in processing speed and added functionality for specific applications. The accelerator also enables inspection in Adaptive Mode, allowing the system to compensate for variations in environmental or production lighting.
