NEW PORTABLE FLOOR SCALE REDUCES PRODUCTION AREA TRAFFIC.
Fairmont, MN–May 22, 2001–Weigh-Tronix, Inc. has introduced the PFS 2418-01 Portable Floor Scale. The PFS rolls easily from job to job, reducing production area traffic and decreasing weighment time by eliminating the need for constant travel to and from a central scale. Specifically designed to interface with a PC-820 Dual Counting Scale, creating a dual scale with convenient portability, the new scale delivers advanced weighment and counting functions to every job. The PFS is also available as a rental through Weigh-Tronix distributorsÑa convenient option for single-time use and/or multiple-unit projects, such as accelerated inventory cycle counts (with counting scale). The PFS lists for $895 (counting unit/indicator sold separately).

Combined with a PC-820, the PFS provides instant display and documentation of count/weight data for increased inventory tracking accuracy, and immediate order verification. The PC-820 features two sleep modes that extend battery life to maximize continuous operating time. Users can choose an internal battery option that allows seven hours of continuous scale operation, or the BP-25R Battery Pack, which doubles the continuous operation time to 14 hours.

The PFS features a 1,000 lb. (500 kg) weighing capacity, with weighing accuracy 0.02% of rated output. The weight sensor, a 350-ohm shear beam load cell with a 2mV/V output, features 200% overload protection and 100% end loading, and withstands continuous use. The scale includes a 10Õ load cell cable (in the column), and polyolefin wheels each rated at 300 lbs. weight bearing capacity.

Constructed of carbon steel with a durable high-grade powder paint finish, the PFS is as rugged as it is accurate. It operates reliably in temperatures from 14¡F to 104¡F (-10¡C to 40¡C). The standard PFS features a 12" x 14" platform with pre-drilled mounting holes for a PC-820 and a BP-25R Battery Pack. The unit also includes a DB9 connector to interface with the PC-820 and mounting hardware to hold the PC-820 in place. The PFS can also be interfaced with the economical WI-125 LCD weight indicator to provide portable weighing for applications where counting is not required.
